For a third time here is some more dubstep juiciness in mixtape form. I can’t help but feature Phaseone and Joker again, two amazing artists taking the genre in different directions. Also included is Akira Kiteshi (big!), Gemmy (so fresh!!), Hyetal and Shortstuff. Some very new tunes here as well as old. The last track being a taste of things to come. Peace..

The Five One are a group like no other. Their sound is blessed with freedom, inventiveness, and true imagination. The quartet is rooted in Hip Hop but is never bound by conventional ideologies of hip hop or any other genre for that matter. They are like a cross between a pleasing Indie Pop/Rock band and the most innovative Hip Hop group you’ve ever heard.

All is well in the world of electronic music – there’s a glut of sick breaks and electro releases at the moment. Breaks heads everywhere whinge about breaks DJs playing house and “diluting the scene”, blah blah blah – but how can mixing house and breaks be anything but beneficial? Anything can go stale if it’s left to stand for too long, and innovating new sounds doesn’t necessarily mean replacing established ones.

If you don’t like it, don’t listen to it.

If you think other people won’t like it, don’t play it.

Here’s another breaks mix for your ears – this one’s a bit more electro-ey.

One of the great things about breakbeat is that you can fuse it with electro house and it’ll still sound huge. There’s a couple of examples of that in this offering; expect more of this in the future as my two main influences are breaks and electro house. Enjoy!

This is the first official single from Nas’ upcoming album, it’s called “Hero”. The track features the talented Keri Hilson on vocals. Polow Da Don produced this track and has come up with a crazy energetic beat which will no doubt attract alot of plays on commercial radio.
Even though this track is obviously aimed at commercial radio, Nas does not neglect his lyrics at all. He comes with his brutally honest self, laying down provocative rhymes over every bar with that hunger and power he is known for. I am liking this tune, production and lyrics compliment each other perfectly. Enjoy!
Hero:

First up is a remix of Amon Tobin ‘Kitchen Sink’ which you can hear on his latest album, The Foley Room (which I highly recommend if you are a fan of this deep ambient breakbeat style). This is a remix by Clark that was posted over at AG

Next up is the new Gescom – A1 D1 12″, comprising of 6 tracks. This is a very interesting and unpredictable record, and some of it is unexpected when you compare to earlier Gescom stuff. It kind of reminds me of the Envane EP which is in my opinion underrated. A1-D1 has clear Jazz and Funk influence. A1 just totally changes about half way through and it somehow works, while C1 sounds like something that would happen if Daedelus did a collaboration with Autechre, and it works well!

Sadahnmo, wow! This guy is producing some cool Indian IDM/Electronica and his stuff can be heard for free over at the Last.fm page. I particularly like the track ‘Sadahnmo stays in a palace‘

Finally, and for good measure, here is a little sample from Daft Punk’s sick Alive 2007 live album. Wouldn’t it be great to be in that stadium when this beat dropped?!

Some great stuff has been coming out of the Anticon realm; if you have heard any Restiform Bodies then you will know what TJJ has to offer. His latest release is a mix of melodic and sometimes eerily sad instrumental hip-hop, called ‘Anywhere out of Everything’. Here is Birdstatic from the album. Strange that in the UK dubstep seems to be a hot topic. I think it has got something to do with Burial, who has come out of nowhere to drop this very interesting self-titled album. The cover design represents the music well too. Tracks below

Bonus Para One Remix

edIT is working on his new album, ‘Certified Air Raid Material’, and one sicko track can now be heard at his myspace. Apparently this track has already been making the rounds in his live sets
If it is anything like his debut ‘Crying over pros for no reason’, then expect a banging record from the glitch madman. If you haven’t heard it (or even if you have), listen to the ‘Crying Megamix’ which is a mashup of all the album tracks.

When five friends, djs and music producers, Ooah, Kitty-D, Boreta, edIT Kraddy, all noted fixtures on the West Coast’s underground electronica scene, came together one night in an experiment in collaboration, they opened their laptops, and The Glitch Mob was formed, and with it the birth of a sound that is at once fresh and familiar.

The Mob deconstructs the standard notions of collaboration, performance, and genre to create a fully immersive, novel experience for their audiences. The format of their live shows takes the convention of a two dj tag-team set and reinvents it by utilizing anywhere from two to five djs on stage at once who interact musically more like a jazz combo feeding one continuous stream, each taking the lead at intuitive moments then threading back into the whole.
