Summer Albums 4/4: King Roc

King Roc – Chapters. I must admit that I don’t know much at all about King Roc apart from some random mentions. Chapters is not really an album of individual songs but one huge long 80 minute ride of electronic soundscapes. It’s better than a lot of stuff out there right now.

Summer Albums 3/4: The Field

The Field – Yesterday & Today. The Field’s From Here we go to Sublime was such a great release, my favourite on that record being the song A Paw in my Face. The thing with The Field is that he manages to make minimal techno songs that are each very unique, so I wasn’t worried [...]

Summer Albums 2/4: Grizzly Bear

Grizzly Bear – Veckatimest. I don’t really know how to define this music or specify its genre, especially because I rarely listen to this stuff. I would say that Grizzly Bear are combination of Rock and Pop. This music requires attention to get the most out of it; listen to it any other way and [...]

Summer Albums 1/4: Mars Volta

Mars Volta – Octahedron. Which seems to have leaked already. The official release date is June 23. Comparing it Deloused in the Comatomium (the other Mars Volta that I’ve listened to the most) it is a lot less epic and more easy going, but classic Mars Volta nonetheless and highly recommended.
Mars Volta – Desperate Graves [...]

Black Milk w/ Colin Munroe, Felix Cartal and Chromeo

Who is Colin Munroe? Exactly. You hear Black Milk (above) on the production for something and you take notice – did you even hear Dreams?  ‘Piano Lessons’ from Colin Munroe (take notice!) dropped earlier in the year. Production is on point, check it out as well as this electro-house remix from Felix Cartal below
Audio: Colin [...]

Remix Wednesday: Stereobit, Danger, Panda Bear, PhaseOne plus more

One Wednesday of each month will now become Remix Wednesday a new feature to HNS. We’ll be doing a showcase of a few of the remixes we’ve been hearing around the web and also those that have been emailed in by listeners. It’s going to mostly be Dance, Hip-Hop, Electro but everything else is welcome. [...]

Boom Bip, Gruff Rhys, Spank Rock collabo & Why?

Stainless Style by Neon Neon is an unorthodox concept album between some of the big underground names of Hip-Hop, IDM, electronica and indie rock and it somehow works really well. Boom Bip is one of my favourite musicians; if you haven’t already then check out Blue eyed in the Red Room featuring Nina Nastasia, and [...]

James Pants, Bochum Welt live cut

Spotted on: Analog Giant

New artist fresh off the Stones Throw block, James Pants is described on their site as,
“… a purveyor par excellence of that unmistakable “fresh beat”: 80’s Soul, Electro Boogie, Early Rap, New Wave, & Post-Punk Disco, all of which can be found on Welcome where James plays drums, keys, guitar and sings.”
I’ll [...]

February Roundup, Spank Rock, Daft Punk and Radio Slave

I’m gonna end this month off by mentioning some of the tracks that I’ve had pretty much on loop recently. Check back very soon for an in-depth look into three upcoming projects that I am excited to be able to blog about – HipGnosis, Eliot Lipp and Autechre.
Stay tuned boppers, stay tuned…

December Round-up

This isn’t a very extensive round up, but more-so a summary of some of the things I have been listening to during December to round off the year. Most of it is new, some of it is old. Enjoy…
