For a third time here is some more dubstep juiciness in mixtape form. I can’t help but feature Phaseone and Joker again, two amazing artists taking the genre in different directions. Also included is Akira Kiteshi (big!), Gemmy (so fresh!!), Hyetal and Shortstuff. Some very new tunes here as well as old. The last track being a taste of things to come. Peace..

From the depths. Some crazy progressive dubstep here. I’ve chosen from among my favourite tracks. And see if you can spot a hidden gem from 1994. Hope you enjoy it.

2009 is nearly over and we’ve seen some big tunes and crazy progressions in grime, dubstep and other bass music. I’m creating three individual mixes that cover the music I have been listening to this year plus a few exceptional tracks from ‘08. The first mix is called BEAST and it’s my take on the ever evolving dubstep/bass genre, including some of my favourites over the past year. Enjoy!

Chase & Status are a dance/electronic production duo from London consisting of Saul Milton and Will Kennard. Together they have grown rapidly since the birth of drum & bass.
Last year they had great success with their single “Pieces” feat Plan B, which I thought was amazing! They’ve hooked up again with Plan B for their followup single “End Credits”.

I’m always on the lookout for new artists on the Hip Hop scene, so I was happy when I stumbled across Drake. This Canadian actor/singer/rapper signed to Lil Wayne’s Young Money Entertainment label earlier this year. He has already released three singles, with a full album, Thank Me Later due out sometime in 2010.
Forever is the second single to be taken from the upcoming soundtrack for Lebron James’ documentary More Than a Game. I think it’s such a great concept, and the preview received positive reviews. This single features verses from Drake, Kanyeezy, Lil Wayne and Eminem (who absolutely kills it, in true Mathers style).

He describes himself as a “veritable fountain of electronica, IDM, jungle, and drum and bass”. I’d definitely add some 2step, garage and dubstep to the equation. FaltyDL has just released a genre-defying album ‘Love Is A Liability‘ that takes 2step to a new level. Sometimes quite dark, the Jungle and IDM influences are very clear.
The stand-out tracks for me are Human Meadow, Paradise Lost and The Shape To Come (which is like something you would’ve heard from Planet Mu or Merck 10 years ago). I think it would be sick to hear a big wobbly dubstep remix of this last track.

This track is pretty wild, let’s hope that Hudson Mohawke of Warp’s album Butter lives up to expectations.

I found this video over at Tokyo Dawn Records, this is just great. The track that J Dante is dancing to is by Comfort Fit a collabo of a lot of excellent electronic musicians who have just released a new album entitled Polyshufflez. Check it now at tokyodawn.net or get it on Itunes
Tanya Morgan is a rap group y’know. Fan of Little Brother, Cool Kids or Kidz in the Hall? Then take a listen and buy their recent release Brooklynati, the best Hip-Hop I have heard so far this year. Every track is fire – no fillers!
